Un tempo la parola nonno evocava vecchietti curvi sotto il peso dei loro anni e appoggiati a un bastone, mentre facevano la loro passeggiata ai giardinetti. Nessuno di noi ultra settantenni vuole essere inquadrato in quelle categorie stereotipate di persone inutili e dimenticate dalla società. Perchè non lo siamo. Basta guardarsi attorno e scoprire il grande attivismo e le molteplici attività che ci vedono coinvolti. I nostri figli, nel contattarci quotidianamente, ci dicono. “Ma non si siete mai a casa?” C’è in questa domanda una forma di compiacimento per dei genitori che non se ne stanno inchiodati sul divano a guardare tutto il giorno la tv, ma che si dedicano a tanti hobby con risvolti culturali e sociali di ogni tipo.
Le palestre sono piene di persone che curano la forma fisica con esercizi di pilates o yoga o quanto altro possa impedire alle ossa di deteriorarsi e ai muscoli di cedere. Si è fatta spazio la cultura del movimento, delle camminate, quando e dove sia possibile.
L’Università della Terza Età ha avuto un notevole incremento di iscrizioni, grazie a dei percorsi che uniscono informazione, tecnologia e movimento, in una location del centro storico accessibile e confortevole. Ma anche il settore dell’intrattenimento registra un grande incremento.
Tra un torneo di burraco e una serata di ballo in pizzeria, il tempo trascorre in piacevole compagnia di altri coetanei che condividono la stessa passione e i pomeriggi e le serate sono pieni di impegni.
Per non parlare del volontariato, di cui siamo un vero pilastro portante. Utilizzare al meglio il proprio tempo libero per dedicarsi a chi ha bisogno, siano essi malati o bambini in ospedale, mensa dei poveri, ambulatori, indigenti, extracomunitari e altro, è forse l’occupazione più gratificante per noi tutti.
A coronare il nostro sogno di persone attive e piene di energia sono intervenuti, in queste serate sanremesi che ci intrattengono ogni sera, tre uomini di spettacolo che hanno accompagnato la nostra bella età con le loro indimenticabili canzoni: Morandi Albano e Ranieri. La loro presenza alla manifestazione che alcuni maldicenti hanno chiamato Festival delle RSA ci ha regalato momenti di serenità senza la patina patetica della nostalgìa. Vera energìa. Ma non solo per noi. Anche per molti giovani, che , senza confessarlo, riconoscono in quelli della nostra età stimoli e impulsi a loro sconosciuti.
