Ultimi giorni di sindacatura per Francesca Valenti, impegnata negli adempimenti di fine mandato. L’abbiamo incontrato all’uscita dal Palazzo di città e ne abbiamo approfittato per chiederLe di rinnovare per il nostro giornale il proposito che aveva avuto occasione di manifestarci in coda alla conferenza stampa di fine mandato e che adesso, non essendoci più il tempo e la possibilità di trasformarlo in progettualità amministrativa, rimane soltanto un’idea, a nostro avviso ottima, che toccherà eventualmente a qualcun altro raccogliere e sviluppare.
Francesca Valenti si presta volentieri al nostro invito:
“Il Presidente Nello Musumeci – ci dice la sindaca – ha destinato €1.500.000,00 per fare “la toletta” al patrimonio termale della nostra città. Adesso dalla Regione chiedono un progetto dal Comune o dal liquidatore Turriciano. Assurdo! Tuttavia, è un’opportunità che non può essere sprecata. Questo importo è davvero poca cosa rispetto a ciò che serve per la manutenzione straordinaria del complesso termale. Ma questo importo potrebbe essere sufficiente per ristrutturare e riaprire la piscina coperta del parco termale. A giorni partiranno i lavori di manutenzione del Parco delle Terme per 500.000,00, e c’è già un ulteriore finanziamento di 110.000,00 per l’impianto di illuminazione. Ritengo quindi che il recupero strutturale e funzionale della piscina consentirebbe alla città di rientrare in possesso di almeno uno dei beni del complesso termale oggi interamente inutilizzabile”.
Come probabilmente il lettore più attento ricorderà, lo scorso 5 gennaio la Presidenza della Regione aveva annunciato che erano stati stanziati 3 milioni di euro per la manutenzione straordinaria dei complessi termali di Acireale e Sciacca, “provvedimento resosi necessario per evitare il prolungato inutilizzo degli stessi” si leggeva nella notizia sul portale istituzionale della Regione Siciliana. La comunicazione proseguiva dicendo che “si interverrà sui soffitti, sugli infissi e sulle parti ammalorate a causa della umidità“. Da notare che in nessuna fonte informativa, salvo errore da parte nostra, sembrano essere stati esplicitati i dati identificativi del documento con il quale la Regione avrebbe deciso di stanziare questi tre milioni di euro. “Soltanto elemosina”, aveva titolato il Quotidiano di Sicilia; “E’ arrivata la Befana ma dentro la calza c’è… carbone”, aveva titolato ServireSciacca.
Cosa ha fatto la Regione dopo qualche mese? Ha suddiviso salomonicamente la somma tra Sciacca e Acireale (unmilionecinquecentomila ciascuno) e ha inviato al Comune di Sciacca una lettera (si presume anche ad Acireale) nella quale si chiede al Comune stesso di progettare qualcosa per spendere questi unmilionecinquecentomila euro in termini di manutenzione straordinaria del complesso termale.
Anche se siamo al corrente che c’è chi la pensa diversamente, a me invece l’idea della sindaca mi sembra tutt’altro che peregrina, salvo ovviamente verificarne per bene la fattibilità: piuttosto che disperdere quella somma in piccoli interventi di manutenzione, magari necessari ma che non cambierebbero di molto la situazione per la esiguità della somma stessa, se davvero con essa fosse possibile rimettere in funzione la piscina del parco termale (tra l’altro la più esposta al degrado avendo la copertura in legno) si otterrebbe il risultato tutt’altro che trascurabile di veder rinascere almeno uno degli impianti termali di Sciacca, tra l’altro il più sfruttabile dalla cittadinanza.
Pur immaginando che altri la penseranno diversamente, altrimenti non saremmo a Sciacca, a noi l’idea che ci lascia Francesca Valenti ci piace e abbiamo voluto dichiararlo a chiare lettere, senza inutili distinguo.
